LIMA – CUSCO – MACHU PICCHU - LIMA

DAY 01
LIMA (Lunch & Dinner)

Reception at the airport, transfer to selected Hotel. Transfer to Rosa Nautica Restaurant. In the afternoon city tour in Colonial Lima, private services, this visit includes the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and its museum, the San Francisco Convent and its catacombs, the San Martin Plaza, the Osambela Residence and the Santo Domingo Church. Transfer to Astrid y Gaston Restaurant for dinner. Transfer back to Selected Hotel.

 


DAY 02
LIMA – CUSCO (B, L & D)

Transfer to the airport for a one hour flight to Cusco , upon arrival transfer to the selected hotel. Rest of the morning to get used to the altitude. Lunch will be held at the Inca Grill Restaurant . In the afternoon guided visit to the ruins nearby Cusco, the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, overlooking the city of Cusco, a pre Inca architectural masterpiece, Kenko a rock sanctuary whose main attraction is a monolithic altar representing a puma and the red Fortress of Puca-Pucara, the Main Square with its Cathedral and the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun.Sacsayhuaman Fortress is the first important site outside of Cusco , on the way to the Sacred Valley . Forming the head of the Puma shape that outlines Cusco , it is comprised of three superimposed platforms , whose edges are zigzagged in the shape of the Puma s teeth. It was nearly impossible to attack the fortress from the ground level, as an aggressor s back was always exposed at some angle. A center field beneath the zigzag walls is the site of the yearly Inti Raymi festival, celebrating the winter solstice on June 24.The huge stones that make Sacsayhuaman weigh up to 80 tons each and required one hundred men to move. It took more than 70 years and the work of 20,000 people to finish building the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Manco Inca used Sacsayhuaman during his rebellion against the Conquistadors in 1535, as a base from which to attack the Conquistadors in Cusco . Pizarro was able to recapture it with the aid of 50 cavalrymen. Transfer to La Cicciolina Restaurant for dinner. Transfer back to the hotel.

 


DAY 03
CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY (B, L & D)

Breakfast. In the morning transfer to the sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the ruins of Ollantaytambo and the town with its many houses that date back to Inca times. Other homes were constructed with the stones left by the Inca civilization. Before entering the fortress of Ollantaytambo we put on warm clothing since the wind causes the temperature to drop sharply at the top of the fortress. Our guide will show us around the ruins, constructed with some of the largest stones in the Inca Empire. Lunch will be arranged at the Huayoccari Family House. In the afternoon transfer to the selected hotel. Dinner at the Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel Restaurant. Overnight.

 


DAY 04
MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO (B & D)

Breakfast at the hotel. Early transfer to Ollanta Rail station to take the train to Machu Picchu, upon arrival transfer to the Hotel. Bus ride to the ruins, aprox. 45 minutes. Guided visit to the ruins. Lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge Hotel. In the afternoon bus ride back to Aguas Calientes. Overnight at the selected hotel. Tonight’s dinner is at the passenger expenses.

 


DAY 05
MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO (B & D)

Breakfast. Second bus ride to the ruins of Machu Picchu. This time the visit is free. It is recommended for those more adventurous to climb the Huayna Picchu; it’s the mountain in front of Machu Picchu. Lunch is at the passenger expenses. In the afternoon bus ride back to Aguas Calientes to catch the train to Cusco. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Transfer to MAP Restaurant. Overnight.

 


DAY 06
CUSCO – LIMA (B, L & D)

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport, flight back to Lima, upon arrival transfer to the selected hotel. Lunch will be held at Jose Antonio Restaurant Free afternoon with VAN to visit the city museums or go shopping. At night transfer to Rafael Restaurant for dinner.

 


DAY 07
LIMA (B)

Transfer and coordination for international flight.
